What is Grace?
Grace refers to an extended period of time. Expressions such as 'grace period' help to understand both the literal and practical implications of grace. The spiritual significance is quite similar, and its practical interpretation should be a goal in our spiritual journey. Listen to Sunday's Message on Grace by clicking below.
1) Some People Have More Grace Than Others
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. -James 4:6
Some individuals possess a remarkable level of grace, a quality that seems to emanate effortlessly from them. This grace is not merely a reflection of their own character or presence; rather, it is deeply intertwined with their interactions and relationships with others. In other words, they extend grace and as a result they receive grace.
2) Because of Ignorance, Embracing Grace Becomes Challenging
In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. -John 1:4-5
Individuals who live in ignorance think that they earn everything they possess through their own efforts and are accountable for their own lives. This understanding keeps them from experiencing grace and its benefits.
3) Grace and Mercy are Directly Linked
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. -Matthew 5:7
The grace you receive depends on the mercy you show.
4) Living a Life of Grace means being Blind to Sin
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. -Matthew 7:1-2
When observing the hardships of others, it's easy to claim they brought it on themselves. Ignoring sin proclaims that in every challenge, God seeks a chance to display His Glory.
5) Anything linked to Eternity doesn't require Grace
And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. -John 1:16
Jesus, full of grace, lavishly grants it to us. By wholly embracing Jesus, we are joined with Him through the Holy Spirit, and as a result, we no longer need grace but can offer it to others.
